Roundup 6/12/24

No real blog post this week! Just a couple of stories I've found interesting and deciding to share:

Men's Health asked a bunch of comics creators to recommend some comics. This list is worth a read - you'll find at least one thing to add to your wishlist.

Rocky Road for Power Rangers? Seems like Netflix is no longer interested in being in the Power Rangers business. Josh Moore has a good write-up on the current landscape for that franchise and where it might go next. Noted Power Ranger leaker, Jinsakuu, has a bit more info

With Hasbro seemingly removing itself from the toy game, I'm not surprised that this Netflix project fell through.

Apparently the Frank Miller documentary has started screening around the country. Sadly there are none near me, but I appreciated this write-up. Hope I am able to catch a digital release soon.

RIP Comicshistorian. While I am not familiar with his work, he seems to have been beloved by many people in the industry as well as across comics fandom. My condolences to his family, colleagues and fans.

Here's an interview with Oni Press EiC Sierra Hahn about the process of turning webtoons into physical comic books.

A friend of the blog published a thought-provoking review of Bad Boys: Ride or Die. My wife and I caught the film this weekend: absolute a laugh riot of a film with a wildly uncomfortable United States Marine Corps add tossed into the third act.

Kevin Smith just did a second appearance on Michael Rosenbaum's podcast. I've always been a big Kevin Smith head so it's always a joy to hear him shoot the shit. There's some fascinating insights in this interview, including Kevin's battles with the MPAA and what he foresees as the future of movies (becoming a more expensive, boutique experience, like opera or broadway.)

Michael's entire back catalog is worth a scan - he's had a lot of interesting conversations with a lot of folks.
